Fornication/Adultery/Homosexuality/Pornography/Pedophilia
I know that there are others that I have neglected to list above, but these sexual sins seem to be the most prevalent in our society today and throughout history (with the exception of pornography). Majority opinion today is that it is acceptable and actually encouraged for each individual to have sex with whomever you want, however you want, and whenever you want, as long as you’re “careful.” Of course, there are precautions people use because they want to be responsible and don’t want to suffer the natural consequences of premarital sex like getting an STD or getting pregnant.
I’m sorry, but a condom won’t protect you from the wrath of God. (ß someone else came up with that, can’t take credit!)
God Himself created sex, so it’s not that He’s grossed out by the concept. We are sexual beings, but He has put guidelines upon the nature of our sexual activities. And He’s decreed these guidelines in order that we might preserve our bodies/souls and be protected from the destruction that we so naturally tend to bring upon ourselves. Of course, the world has always laughed in the face of this concept as they’ve torn off their clothes and jumped into bed with strangers to seek as much pleasure as possible because after all, “it’s my body, I’ll do with it what I want.”
Friend, did you create your body? …No? Okay, then you don’t own it.
Any sexual activity outside of marriage is sexual sin.
Sexual sin violently wages war on your soul. In my opinion , it is more catastrophic to our lives than any other of sin. Which I believe is biblical based on 1 Corinthians 6:18– “Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.” Coming from an overwhelmingly dark indulgence in sexual immorality myself, I know quite vividly the power that sexual sin can have over a person once they have plunged headfirst into their burning passions (read Romans 1).
Sex is physical, but the effects go beyond your body. You are a triune creature made in the image of God (body, soul, spirit), therefore whatever you do with your physical body will have effect on your mind and spirit. And vice-versa. Jesus pointed out this truth, stating that if you lust after a woman in your heart (not even anything physical yet), you have committed sexual sin.
In marriage, when you have sex with your husband or wife you become one flesh with them (Genesis 2:24) and through that intimacy you gain a bond with your spouse which goes beyond the surface level, fleshy satisfaction of casual sex. But outside of this covenant, things can get very dangerous. When you start dabbling into sexual things outside of marriage, the sin will quickly overtake your will and start dictating the thoughts and actions of your life. You become blinded by your lust and you fail to operate within the reality that there is a God who is constantly watching you and taking record of everything you do. You are driven by your desire to watch porn, masturbate, have sex , etc. You live under the power of the lie that the pleasure you gain from that sexual experience is far better than being obedient and submissive to the God that created you. You unrighteously become a slave to yourself, your sex drive, and ultimately…. Satan.
The deeper and more consistently you engage in sexual sin, the harder and more indignant your heart becomes toward God and the truth that He has revealed to humanity about how we should live our lives. All you can think about is sex. Every person you look at you imagine having sex with. You don’t view them as people anymore, you view them as objects that can give you pleasure and in your sick imagination conjure up all the ways in which that person can satisfy you. I’ve been there before. You might think that you are fooling everyone else and that they would never suspect that you were processing such perverse scenes in your mind, but God knows. He knows every second of every one of your thoughts even more thoroughly then you did when you thought it. You may try to block Him out of your mind, but no matter how hard you try, you can’t escape His presence and omniscience.
This is a sexually excited and stimulated world that we live in, especially America. You can throw away your computer or stop going to bars to find a hook-up if you want, but there’s no possible way to escape your own mind. Environmental changes may help, but they aren’t the ultimate solution. You could try counseling/sex therapy, but all that will cause you to do is temporarily suppress the sin in your soul or exchange the sexual sins for another habitual sin. The root problem is your heart, and the only escape from the evil of your heart is through the Cross of Jesus Christ. He can heal your mind, redirect your thoughts and place your affections on Himself rather than on the vile desires of your flesh.
Stop letting perverted sexual fantasies and orgies wage war on your soul. Look to Jesus Christ on the Cross and see the bloodiness of His disfigured body. God took your sin and placed it on the head of His Son and it waged war on HIS SOUL, in order that you might be set free. The horrifying penalty for your sin AND the mercy of God toward you met on the Cross. Wake up and believe it. Believe on the only begotten Son of God.
